They were professional, fair, and the quality of their work was excellent. There were a few hiccups with the subcontractors, but Jim's support through everything was great! Update: After COVID, we had Jim come back and upgrade our remaining guest bathroom. He lost some of his workers, and sadly the quality we received the second time was less than ideal. We found mistakes in the tile work and insisted on a rework which they did, but after the job was complete, we discovered more tiling mistakes, chipped tile next to the tub spout, and many dings and scrapes to our expensive Kohler soaking tub. Each time I clean the bathroom, I seem to find more imperfections in the job. They also did a tiling workaround that was not what I originally requested, and I think it was to make the niche tiling easier to accommodate the less experienced worker. Jim is very creative in finding solutions for problems with older houses, which I appreciate, but not to the extent of the job being done with lower quality. This second time around, Jim was also very difficult to communicate with regarding job start timing and follow-up. Many many texts and emails and calls were left unanswered. It was frustrating. We had approved a bid to remodel a sunroom at the same time as the bathroom, and he never came back or contacted us after the bathroom. Luckily we found another person to complete that job. My home was built in 1997 and my kitchen was in desperate need of a make over!! When I met with Susan Deffaa from Creative Kitchens and Jim Hubbard from Remodeling Experts, I knew this company would be a good fit for me. After receiving six different bids for a complete kitchen remodel, we hired Jim Hubbard and his company, Remodeling and Painting Experts Inc. in the spring of 2016. We purchased our Crestwood home in October of 2015 and the kitchen was in desperate need of updating. Our house is a ranch style brick home built in 1964, and very little had been updated since its construction. We needed new cabinets, new flooring, new countertops, new appliances, a new back exterior door, new lighting, new outlets, new baseboards, and a new kitchen stack (as the existing stack was cast iron). We also wanted to remove some wall space in the middle of the house to open up the kitchen into the front living room. Jim and his team were responsive to our requests and concerns. A remodel of this size is not a single point of purchase, but rather a process that you have to live through. If my wife and I had a concern on a Sunday morning, we would send a text to Jim about it. He always responded and always had a solution. His employees were also responsive to questions and concerns, and were respectful of our home and always cleaned up after themselves. If there were concerns that we needed to be aware of, they made sure that we knew about them. We lived in the basement while essentially the entire upstairs was being demolished and rebuilt. As to the details of the remodel, Jim and his team did the following. They replaced the existing kitchen tile, front foyer tile, bedroom hallway tile, and the carpet in the adjacent den with red oak floors to match the existing red oak flooring in the front room (also adjacent to the kitchen). We had approximately 250 square feet of existing hardwood in the front room of the house. Even though the existing oak in the front room was over 50 years old, they were able to match the older oak to the newer oak. They refinished the older oak and applied a sealer and three coats of urethane. We have a 90-pound dog and the extra layers were a must. They also removed a large section of the wall that separated the kitchen from the front room of the house. This wall was replaced with a beam that actually added a bit of character to the upstairs. Doing so made the upstairs feel much less boxy, and created excellent sight lines. We ordered our cabinets and granite countertops through Creative Kitchen and Bath of Kirkwood, MO. Jim and his team installed the cabinets and another company took the template for the countertops and fabricated the granite. The granite came from Superior Granite Inc. of St. Louis, MO. They installed 4” baseboards throughout the upstairs and installed new appliances that we purchased ourselves. Even though we purchased the appliances from another retailer, they installed the appliances with no problems. They moved the gas line and the water line to accommodate the new location of the refrigerator and the gas oven we purchased. They also installed canned lighting in the ceiling, and hung a chandelier and two pendant lights that we purchased from Metro Lighting of St. Louis, MO. Jim’s team also moved two floor registers from one side of the den to the other, replaced an existing cast iron kitchen stack with PVC, removed an existing kitchen window (to make extra room for a pantry), and installed a new ceiling fan in the den. Much to our dismay, we were forced to remodel the master bathroom that shared a wall with the kitchen. Months earlier, I demolished the bathroom with the intention of remodeling it at a later date. Jim informed us that in order for the kitchen to pass inspection, that bathroom had to be completed. Jim and his team had to change their schedule in order to accommodate that necessary project and did an excellent job. We purchased a vanity and tile, and his team installed a shower pan and glass door. The bathroom was finished in only a couple weeks. Overall, we are very happy with the remodel of the kitchen and the bathroom. We will have additional projects in the future and plan on calling Jim and his team to complete them.Read More

I found Remodeling Experts on Houzz and I am very happy with the result. The job was for a condo in Kirkwood where I remodeled my bathroom, including new tile around an existing tub, a new vanity, toilet, and wall resurfacing/painting. I also used Remodeling Exports for a new engineered wood kitchen floor and small entryway as well as adding baseboards in my kitchen and in two bedrooms. From start to finish of our remodeling project (new kitchen, bath and family room), Jim Hubbard and Susan Deffaa were knowledgable regarding design and product and listened to what we wanted to incorporate. We initially interviewed 5 companies. We chose Creative Kitchen and Bath/Remodeling and Painting Experts because of ease of communication, assessibilty, convenience of a showroom with many products, and many years of combined experience in the design and remodeling field. Their pricing was competitive, with quality products, and respectful of our budget. Demolition began on the date planned to start the project and all products were available as soon as needed. The timeline given for completion (8 weeks) was accurate and the work was actually finished two days ahead of schedule! Daily communication was easily handled, both with the designer and contractor. When a few inevitable problems arose with products and/or installation, they were responsive and corrected without delay. Along the way, we made slight changes in the design and selection of products. These changes were easily accomodated. Both Susan and Jim offered sound advice for many of the details of our remodeling, which we were ultimately very pleased with. We felt comfortable with Jim's crew being in our home on a daily basis.
